Frequently Asked Questions
Nature Reliance School
Where are your survival classes held?
Most of our open-enrollment classes take place in near Frenchburg, Central Kentucky (exact location sent to signups), surrounded by the beautiful Appalachian foothills. We also work directly with first responder agencies, law enforcement, and military units and other organizations across the country. These sponsored trainings often don’t appear on our public calendar, nor will they be broadcast on our social media for OPSEC concerns. If you're interested in remote training, hosting a private course, or agency-specific training, contact us directly at info@naturereliance.org.
What types of classes do you offer?
We teach a wide range of wilderness survival, land navigation, foraging, tracking, self-defense, and resilience courses. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned backwoods traveler, we’ve got something for you. Check out details on our About Us Page.
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Yes. Many of our students come with no prior experience. We are well for helping people grow outside their comfort zone while learning real-world skills from instructors with decades of field experience.
Do you offer online training?
Yes, we offer a full suite of online courses, which you can take at your own pace. Members of NRS Online also get access to exclusive video content, discounts on gear, and more. Visit our NRS Online page to learn more.
Can I host a course at my location?
Absolutely. We regularly travel to teach at church groups, private retreats, schools, and first responder and military agencies and units. Email us at info@naturereliance.org to discuss custom course options and scheduling.
What makes Nature Reliance School different from other survival schools?
We're not theorists, we’re practitioners. Our instructors live what they teach, and every course is built around realistic, experience-based training. We also combine mindset, skills, tactics, and gear, something most other schools overlook.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
We provide detailed gear lists for each class, which you can find on the class description pages. Don’t worry—we’ll help you figure out what you really need, and we always offer practical recommendations.
Are your courses family friendly?
Many of our courses are suitable for older children and teens, especially when accompanied by an adult. If you're not sure which class is the right fit or your child is yournger, email us for guidance.
