Build the Foundations of Wilderness Survival

This is our cornerstone class and the most popular training we offer. Designed for individuals who want to feel confident and prepared in wilderness settings, Wilderness Safety and Survival Level 1 equips you with the skills and knowledge to enjoy the outdoors safely and repeatedly.

What You’ll Learn
We’ll teach you how to be proactive in your outdoor readiness, preparing you for real-life situations. This hands-on course focuses on critical survival skills, including:

  • Wilderness First Aid: Basics of handling injuries and emergencies in the wild.
  • Land Navigation: Using maps and compasses to find your way.
  • Shelter Building: Techniques for creating effective shelters.
  • Knot Tying: Essential knots for survival and camping needs.
  • Fire Building: Methods for starting and maintaining fire in various conditions.
  • Water Purification: Ensuring clean, safe drinking water.
  • Edible and Medicinal Plants: Identifying plants for nutrition and health.
  • Hunting and Trapping: Building traps, gigs, and other survival tools.

Accessible and Comfortable for All Levels

  • Base Camp Setup: The class includes a group base camp within walking distance of vehicle parking, allowing easy access to your gear.
  • Flexibility for Learning: Bring any camping gear you’re comfortable with, or challenge yourself by relying solely on survival-related items for an immersive experience.
  • Room to Experiment: Test different camping setups, including tents, hammocks, or tarps.

Hands-On Learning for Maximum Retention
We believe in learning by doing. Studies show that practicing skills-based activities leads to better knowledge retention. Our well-qualified instructors focus on hands-on, experiential learning—not long lectures or PowerPoint presentations. You’ll spend plenty of "dirt time," actively engaging in survival methodology to build both physical and academic understanding.

Is This Class Right for You?
Whether you're new to outdoor adventures or looking to enhance your survival skills, this class offers foundational knowledge in a supportive, practical environment.
